A+ Productions

is a multidisciplinary production company founded in 2011 as a dynamic platform for artistic collaboration. In an effort to increase public awareness and visibility of dance, A+ produces site-specific dance films and events that bridge fine arts with commercial and freestyle dance culture. With the combined resonance of dance and film, we are exploring the ways that this powerful new medium communicates and connects to our deeper human existence.  A+ also produces the New Dance Cinema Festival; a triannual event that showcases directors and choreographers on the forefront of cinematic dance.

Anji Crain is a choreographer, filmmaker and producer of the New Dance Cinema Festival. Since 2011, she has created over 25 dance films with professional dancers and inspired students. Her works dive into the layered impressions of sense, symbolism, story and place, bringing new methodologies and technologies to embodied narratives on film. Her films and choreography have been presented around the US and internationally including at festivals in Vancouver, Barcelona, Berlin, London and New York.  Central to her work as an artist, curator and producer is the development of platforms for new voices, underserved audiences and more diverse arts communities.  She has partnered and collaborated with several leading arts organizations in New York including Dance Films Association, Alvin Ailey, Peridance Center and more and has featured dancers from New York City Ballet, Parsons Dance, Philadanco, and Broadway.  She has also choreographed for such names as Macy’s, Nike, Kit Kat, State Farm, Reebok, the BBC, Sony music artists and more.

Building upon her studies in Dance and Sociology at NYU and her MFA in Interdisciplinary Creative Practice, Anji’s creative process and research revolves around the formation, structure and creative potential of narrative to transmute old impressions, using the body as both writer and reader.   As an educator, she has worked with students from around the world and has created leading-edge curriculums in dance media, collaborative, and inclusive arts. As a performer, she worked with Kinematic Dance and toured internationally with the acclaimed Decadancetheatre in such esteemed venues as Jacob’s Pillow dance festival and the Southbank Center in London.
